Mold or not mold

Post by wilson_brew_master »

i had my yeast go berzerk when i mixed a custom brew kit in a mr. beer keg. when the foam finally settled (from literally flowing out of the lid), it left this heavy scum ceiling on the keg that looks like a good petris dish for all sorts of nastiness.

Am i hosed or i should i bottle and drink it?

If you're referring to post-fermentation...what you're seeing is the krausen, and it's normal. Usually it forms a ring around the fermenter, but in your case since your yeast went berserk it covered the underside of the lid instead. You're ok, the headspace is by now flushed with CO2 from the ferment--let it ferment to completion and bottle/age as usual.
