Adding grape juice to the primary

Post by mmecord »

Added 1.5 gallons of 28.2 Brix Viognier juice to a 4 gallon Saison base (1.058) just after high krausen. I don't see any way to add that to the recipe and have the amount of sugars factor into both the SG, FG and ABV. Fermentation is almost finished (had to use Lavin 1118 to help finish) and last reading was 1.003.

Since there doesn't seem to be a Grape Juice ingredient already created, that I can find, I would edit the gravity contribution of something like Honey, and save it as a new adjunct called Grape Juice. As an adjunct, it will add gravity and then alcohol, dependent on how you set the attenuation.

Did you add the juice? How did it turn out? Any modifications?
