export ingedients

Post by jawsfree »

is there a way to export my ingredients database to excel or other editable format? The problem is that when I just try to print the list it includes the description and all I need is a list of name, origin and quantity.

I found a simple way to do this:
- Click on your ingredients database in the left column, so that your database ingredients appear in the upper browsing window.
- Cick on the first ingredient in that upper window, to highlight it.
- Use Ctrl-a to highlight all ingredients in the window.
- Ctrl-c will copy the list.
- Ctrl-v will paste the list into an open spreadsheet.

When I tried this in an Appleworks spreadsheet, it formatted the list so that each ingredient got it's own row, then the name, origin, description and amount each got their own column. It was very nicely formatted and easy to edit, since you could simply delete the column that contained the description if you wanted to remove that from every ingredient.
