Carbonating with honey.
Has any buddy ever carbonated with honey? How does it work? How much do you use? What types of beer would be best to use honey on?
Sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

Yes, works great with wheat style beers.LawDawg05023 wrote:Has any buddy ever carbonated with honey? How does it work? How much do you use? What types of beer would be best to use honey on?
One i did a while ago i used 8oz of honey to prime 5gal of beer.
Used it just like you would corn sugar.
I mixed 8oz honey with 2cups of water then boiled for 15 min, added to bottling bucket and bottled as usual.
Just make sure your beer is completely fermented out before bottling
or your bottles will end up being over carbonated.
Not thet i've ever done that...

How much of a honey flavor do you get?
You like WWII airshows then you may like my WWII site. http://www.ww2-airshows.lone-wolfs-den.com Or stop on by and see what we have been up down on the farm. www.greene-acres.com
Virtually no flavor from the honey as all the sugars got fermented out.Lone Wolf wrote:How much of a honey flavor do you get?
But the beer seamed to carbonate quicker and had more of a carbonation bite
then typical corn sugar, The type of bite thet burns the tongue a little as it goes down.
If your thinking of doing this i would recommend trying 3-4oz of honey first
because depending of the type of beer your making and the type/brand
of honey being used the carbonation level you get may be different
then mine so a little experimentation may be needed so you don't end up
with a bunch of exploding bottles.

Did this again using 2/3 cup of honey and 2 cups of water
boiled 15min. to prime 5gal.
Same recipe as before but i used a different brand of honey
this time.
And now i have a good honey flavor to this honey wheat.
The brand i used this time was Pure Premium Raw Michigan Honey
that i bought at the brewery supply store.
I'm finding out that there is a difference between store bought processed honey
and raw honey.
