Big Brew Day 09!

Post by wottaguy »

Well everyone,

Our club decided to get together for Big Brew Day and brew the Saison Du Mont.

We will be brewing a 30 gallon batch and will run it off into 6 club members kettles! The session will be held at my house and we'll be mashing 55.25 lb of malt!

I'll let you all know how things go tomorrow after the session is done. I'll try to get some pics too.

I'll start sanitizing at around 4 AM, and will probably start to mash in around 5:45 am. I have planned for a 2.5 hour long mash.

Wish us luck! LOL!!

Anyone else celebrating tomorrow??

National Homebrew Day

Post by Legman »

Well, I'll be celebrating by myself, but I'll be with you guys in spirit! I don't have any brew buddies here.....but that's cool with me. I still love doing this.

I plan on brewing a cream ale and a historic porter tomorrow. I can smell the grains all the way in the other room. They're just begging to be mashed! :D

Good luck on you big brew Wottaguy!

Thanks for the invite, Wottaguy. But that would be one hell of drive from NC!

I just celebrated and made a Cream Ale. The Historic Porter will have to wait till tomorrow.

Happy Brew Day everyone!!!!

A few of the Clarksville Carboys got together and brewed a total of 15 gallons. It was all pale ale. At 12:00 we tosted with a dry stout that was on tap.
Congrats to all who got to brew today.

Secondary - Cherry Lambic
Bottled - Bourbon Barrel Coffee Porter, Double Chocolate Raspberry Stout, Imperial Nut Brown, Apfelwein, American Amber Ale w/Homegrown Hops, Breakfast Stout

More Big Brew Day 09!

Post by wottaguy »

Hey all,

Our BIG Brew Day was very successful with only 1 no-show, but thats ok as everyone got to take more wort home with them! We had a very smooth brew day and hit the numbers as well! We did come up 2.5 gallons shy of the 30 that we planned for, but it actually worked out for the best! (less waste due to the no show). So we used the extra wort (2.5 gals) for top up for the 5 primary fermenters. I just got a report from one of the brewers that his fermentation is doing really well. We did take some pics and I'm waiting for them to be sent to me so that I can post a couple.

The actual final gallonage turned out to be 27.5 gallons, with very little wasted.
We had the grill going and several home brew samples which made it a real good time.

I'm looking forward to trying this brew out too!

I hope everyone else had a great holiday and brew session too! I'll let ya know when I get the pics too.

We're already planning our next 20 gallon+ group session too!

We had a blast!
