Iodophore Staining?

Post by MFoster75 »

I understand its an Iodine based product, so this may be a foolish question...

I was bottling two batches over the course of two nights, and decided to try to reuse the 6 gallons of iodophore mix (first time using it)... After seeing the color of the walls of the bucket I had left it in for 24 hours, I remade the batch... Anyone know if Iodophore is a reusable sanitizer, and if this yellow stain will ever come out?

The stain is permanent. It should be ok to use with 24hrs. I'd recommend switching over to five stars "Star San" it needs less contact time, no off flavors, no staining. It's worth the additional cost in my book. Never had an infection while using pbw to clean and star san to sanitize.
