BeerTools+ Win8 = Broken BeerTools

I can't believe there's nothing on this forum about this yet, but is anyone else having major issues with BeerTools on Windows 8?

Beyond it taking FOREVER to open (which it always did on Windows 7, too despite my super fast machine and SSD), the Styles feature just doesn't seem to work at all any more. If I click on the style drop-down it's all blank. If I click on "BJCP Guidelines" I get an error that says "A problem occured (NilObjectException). The application may be unstable, do you want to continue?" Then it just never loads.

I've tried running it as an Admin and all the normal app compatibility "shims" with no luck. Reinstalling didn't fix it either.

Thanks,
Adam

An update on this; clicking BJCP Guidelines sometimes crashes BeerTools.

-The Styles Editor feature also seems to work without issue. It's only pulling the BJCP Guidelines that seems to be an issue on Win8. (Except for the occasional crash.)

I replied to your support ticket also. I don't think the issue you are experiencing has anything to do with Windows 8 which is probably why nobody else has posted issues. The symptoms sound like the problem is caused by an interrupted or failed database update. The update causes a delay in startup and if it is interrupted or fails it will try to update again at next startup. Application crashes that occur in connection with listing styles indicates to me that your database file is damaged. I can try to repair it if you send me the library folder. Sorry for the trouble.
