Is it having trouble with them? Do you get any sort of error when you import?

I don't know how it looks on your system, but when I go to open a file I am given a popup menu to the lower right of the file open dialog that allows me to choose the file type to open. The results are filtered based on this selection. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04.
