Late Addition (Kettle) Function

Post by pcharles »

Hi All:

I notice that with extract I have the option of boil (Kettle) or late extract (Kettle) and that I can specify how long it was boiled. I notice that by switching back and forth between the Boil and Late Addition the estimated Bitterness changes. However, I noticed changing the boil time of the late addition does nothing to adjust this.

Do I need to select something else, or is the boil time not supposed to do anything?

Thanks,

Paul

The boil time of extracts is not factored in to the bitterness calculations. BTP assumes that late addition of extracts eliminates their effect on the specific gravity of the boil and the hop utilization is determined using the lower gravity.
