mash schedule question

Post by warthog »

i brewed an imperial ipa the other week, and i think there is a problem with the liquor volume calculations.

the recipe used about 15 lbs of grain and at 1.25 qt/lb i needed 4.77 gallons of water for the mash.

why is it, that in the schedule page, it starts with 6.14 gallons and add additional water from there?

am i not using this feature right? or is it an actual problem. i'll be happy to send you the .xml for it.

Grain occupies volume as well, and the schedule calculates the total volume of the combined grain and water. Does that answer the question?

volume

i think so,
'volume' is total volume both grain and water.

i assume that i would use this feature to predict if my mash tun is large enough to hold everything.

if you tied it to the vessel field, and selected the correct container.....
