Re: BeerTools+ Win8 = Broken BeerTools

An update on this; clicking BJCP Guidelines sometimes crashes BeerTools.

-The Styles Editor feature also seems to work without issue. It's only pulling the BJCP Guidelines that seems to be an issue on Win8. (Except for the occasional crash.)

The only unforgivable sin: Lost / Broken Recipes

S ubjective Problem Description Yes, I've posted 2 "annoyance" bugs to the thread already in rapid succession, but there is an issue that I have had many times over the last couple years when upgrading BeerTools: L ost / Corrupted recipes. This is the only unforgivable sin for a piece of ...

Upgrade Resets Selected Utilization Formulas

This is the #2 most annoying behavior in BeerTools. It really seems like EVERY SINGLE UPGRADE silently resets your selected utilization formulas; then you end up with bitterness levels that are way off. The only important thing with utilization formulas is that you always use the same one, but BeerT...

BeerTools+ Win8 = Broken BeerTools

I can't believe there's nothing on this forum about this yet, but is anyone else having major issues with BeerTools on Windows 8? Beyond it taking FOREVER to open (which it always did on Windows 7, too despite my super fast machine and SSD), the Styles feature just doesn't seem to work at all any mo...

FWH: Aroma vs. Bittering Hops

Does anyone have any experience using high alpha hops for First Wort Hopping? I always hear that the "common wisdom" is that noble profile aroma hops are the best suited for First Wort Hopping, but I'm curious if anyone has done a comparison between FWH with High Alpha and Low Alpha hops.....

SRM Estimations: Estimation of darkness only or also color?

Does the beer tools picture of your beer only take into account the general "darkness" of the beer via SRM or does it look at the amount of each color pigment in each malt? -It seems that Red beers always appear brown in beer tools and that it's only looking at the relative darkness of the...

I found the Overview on the Wiki which led me to the Utilization options. I find it a very strange default that there would be NO adjustment made for wort gravity... -Is there ANY even basic concensus over which utilization method is generally the most accurate for calculating beer with medium amoun...

IBU Calculations: Bug?

Disclaimer: I'm a Beer Tools newb if it's possible that I'm using the tool incorrectly, it's highly likely. How does Beer Tools calculate Bitterness (IBUs)? Bitterness should be affected by the gravity of the boil, correct? If I go into my current saved recipe, which lists an estimated 83.9 IBUs, if...
