It's my understanding that one should avoid using distilled water because it lacks minerals / compounds that are useful to yeast. "Spring water" or some such product that lacks chlorine might be a better choice.
Anybody know more about this? I'm pretty new to all this, too.

Starter for Tripel
Am planning on brewing a tripel this weekend. I bought two smack packs of Belgian Abby II.
My question: What are the pros and cons of pitching each pack into a separate 1L starters VS pitching both packs into a single 1L starter?

Cure for flat tripel?
I brewed a tripel, OG 1.080 FG 1.016. At bottling, I added a pack of S-O4 (what I had on hand) to the bucket with the corn sugar solution. Opened a bottle two weeks later and it's as flat as an ice rink. I am guessing the the S-04 couldn't handle the alcohol? Should have used champagne yeast. Is the...
